Job Description & Responsibilities:

The role of Database Administrator will involve coordinates physical changes to computer database and codes, tests, and implements physical database by performing the necessary duties and responsibilities. The Database Administrator will be responsible for multiple databases over two platforms * Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle 10g.

• Codes database descriptions and specifies identifiers of database to database management system or directs others in coding database descriptions
• Calculates optimum values for database parameters such as amount of computer memory to be used by database
• Specifies user access level for each segment of one or more data items such as insert, replace, retrieve, or delete data
• Modifies database programs to increase processing performance, referred to as performance tuning
• Designs logical and physical databases or reviews description of changes to database design to understand how changes to be made affect physical database (how data is stored in terms of physical characteristics such as location, amount of space, and access method)
• Selects and enters codes of utility program to monitor database performance such as distribution of records and amount of available memory
• Directs programmers and analysts to make changes to database management system
• Tests and corrects errors, and refines changes to database
• Modifies database programs to increase processing performance, referred to as performance tuning
• System maintenance and tuning, scripted data integration, data modeling and schema maintenance, and some database development
• Data warehousing tasks, including star schema modeling and scripted Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) processes
• Design and development support for front end developers, infrastructure support with network administrators, R & D operations as needed

Required Qualifications: 

• 4+ years of experience as a hands on Oracle Database Developer is required including expertise with Packages, Procedures, Functions, Database Triggers using PL/SQL
• 2+ years of experience with Object Relational Modeling or Data Modeling is required
• 2+ years of experience involved with database system integrations is required
• 1+ years of experience with developing database API's is required
• Data modeling or data warehousing experience would be a plus
• Knowledge of relational theory and strong knowledge of SQL is required

Educational Requirements:

• BS in Computer Science, MIS, or related or equivalent in experience (at least 6 years)
• Masters Degree a plus

Background screens are preformed and security clearance may also be required of the position. Active Security Clearance a plus
